I had the not so brilliant idea to fight in a Tough Man Contest when I was in college. With a background in martial arts, I thought I would use clean strikes and superior technique to pick apart the sloppy, looping punches that were typical in these bouts.

I was the first fight of the night. For the first 15 seconds, or should I say, the only 15 seconds, I looked good. Threw out a few sharp jabs and maybe a right cross. I don’t remember ANYTHING after that..for two reasons.

Apparently I zigged when I should have zagged and I learned the hard way
